Jessica is a highly experienced Speech and Language Therapist and mum of 3 children. She has extensive skills and knowledge in the field of prevention and early intervention. She is committed to the early support of children so that secondary difficulties can be avoided. She has more than 25 years experience in assessing, diagnosing and treating a range of speech, language and communication impairments. She worked for the NHS for 12 years before setting up her own independent practice in 2009. Whilst working for the NHS she was Principal Therapist and strategic lead for early years for a neighbouring health authority. She was also lead for a 'trail-blazer' Sure Start programme and continues to provide consultancy to Local Authorities, schools, children's centres, Family Hubs, nurseries and playgroups. Jessica helps staff to make their educational settings 'communication friendly' and supports staff to identify and support children with speech, language and communication skills difficulties. Jessica is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and holds an enhanced Criminals Record Bureau Check (DBS).
Qualifications and training:
After completing a four year full time degree course at the University of Central England in Birmingham, Jessica qualified in 1997 with a BSc Hons degree in Speech and Language Pathology and Therapeutics. In 2003, she qualified from City University, London, with a post-graduate diploma in Human Communication. She also attended numerous courses to expand her skills and knowledge base and continue to meet the strict professional standards set by the regulatory bodies she is registered with. This training includes:

- Developmental Sentence Processing - a cognitive neuro-psychological approach
- Speech, lexical and literacy difficulties in children
- Makaton
- PECS for children on the autistic spectrum/children with difficulties in social interaction

Key skills and achievements:
In her role as Principal Therapist and Strategic Lead for Early Years, Jessica's key achievements include the development of new models of service delivery for the NHS focussing on prevention and early intervention. Her involvement in Sure Start led to borough wide improvements in early communication skills development across the West Midlands and Staffordshire. She has worked closely with the National Literacy Trust on the 'Talk to your Baby Campaign' and contributed to their Early Language Advocacy Kit for Early Years Professionals. She has developed screening tools, presented at national conferences and written articles.
Assessment and therapy for children:
Jessica provides support for children and their families in Staffordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and the West Midlands.
